How to get Visa to Myanmar?

If you have plan to travel to Myanmar, and you wondering how to get Visa to Myanmar? Please no worry! According to Visa policy of Myanmar, any foreign national who wishes to entry Myanmar must obtain a visa unless they are a citizen of one of the eligible visa exempt countries. Here are some information for getting Visa to Myanmar

How to get Visa to Myanmar? Foreigner can get a Visa to Vietnam by 3 ways:

1. Vietnam Embassy Visa
2. Vietnam visa on arrival (VOA) 
3. Vietnam Electronic visa (E-visa)

How to get Visa to Myanmar? Please make sure you prepare the following documents for your visa application process:
– Your original passport (must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in Myanmar)
– You have to upload one COLOR PHOTO (4.6 cm X 3.8 cm) taking during last (3)months.
– Visa, Master, American Express , JCB credit cards or Alipay for the Online Visa payment.)

1) Myanmar Embassy Visa – getting visa stamped at the Myanmar embassy

If you want to have a business visa or a tourist visa. You get their visa through a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate office in their country of residence or in their travel country before entering Vietnam.
*** For a tourist visa, you will need to submit:
– Application form: You can complete the form online 
– Original passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry: If you request a loose-leaf visa, a copy of your passport is sufficient.
– 01 passport-sized photo with no glass wears. 01 additional photo is needed in case you apply for a loose-leaf visa.
– Visa fees: Must be money order, or cashier’s check, or company check. Cash is accepted if you send in your application in person. The fee will depend on the type of visa you are applying for.
Mail Service: Prepaid self-addressed return envelope is required if you want to have the passport returned by post (FedEx and USPS is recommended).
The form and the fee can vary by country, so please check directly the Vietnamese embassy or consulate to which you are applying.

*** A business visa usually also requires a letter of support from your sponsor agency or company in Vietnam. In person, the process usually takes 7-10 working days, and by mail, the process usually takes 2-3 weeks, depending on the service you use, although times can vary considerably by embassy or consulate. If you are mailing, please note that you need to make arrangements to have your passport with visa returned to you.
In case, you do not want to go to the Vietnam embassy to get the visa stamped, Vietnam visa on arrival or Vietnam e-Visa is highly recommended. Two these ways to save their time and mone.

Please be noted that certain Vietnam visa requirements need to be done before your visa is stamped: 
– Original passport with at least 6 month validity.
– Two passport-sized photos (2 x 3 inch, taken less than 6 months ago)
–  Stamping fee in USD or Local money (this fee will be paid to the immigration officer, cash only)

2) Myanmar visa on arrival (VOA) – getting the visa stamped at the airport

Myanmar visa on arrival was available a few years ago. But nowadays, the Burmese Government seemed to have taken this way except for a few nationalities. Nowadays the public way to get Visa to Myanmar by applying in a designated Myanmar embassy or through their Electronic Visa application (E-visa)

3)  Myanmar e-Visa – getting online (Processing Tourist Visa)

You can directly apply for a visa by yourself at https://evisa.moip.gov.mm/index.aspx. Please note that: EVisa is only valid for a single entry. Re-entry will require a new visa.

The process of getting eVisa Approval includes 4 Steps:

Step 1: Fill in the secure online eVisa form

An applicant is required to enter all the necessary information in the visa form.

Step 2: Confirm and pay

Applicant needs verifying all the information entered is correct beforehand proceeding to the next step. Make the payment via Credit Card. The applicant will receive the acknowledgment email with application reference code via email.

Step 3: Get approval letter within 3 days

The approval process may take up to 3 working days. The applicant will receive eVisa approval letter via email once approved. Print out the “approval letter” and bring along with the passport. The applicant will need to present it upon arrival.

Step 4: Get visa stamped upon arrival

Upon arrival to Myanmar Immigration checkpoint, applicant present eVisa approval letter and passport to Immigration officer before getting the passport stamped.

  • If the applicant has child(ren) under (7) years old on the same passport, you have to put the name of that child, date of birth in the minor section of the application form.
  • Tourists must stay in registered hotels, motels, inns, guest house and resort during your stay in Myanmar.
  • The applicant should complete individual personal data whether passenger is FIT or package tour.
  • Only passports will be eligible for e-visa and travel documents will not be accepted. If you get e-visa with travel documents, you must be denied Entry to Myanmar at the immigration check points.
  • There are Restricted Areas for Foreigners and Tourist travelling in the Country, for more information please visit mip.gov.mm. Information on restricted area go to gov.mm/RestricetdArea
  • E – Visa is a only valid for a single entry. Re-entry will require a new visa.
  • Currently passengers with eVisa are only permitted to enter via following ports :

– Yangon International Airport

– Mandalay International Airport

– Nay Pyi Taw International Airport

– Tachileik Land Border Checkpoint

– Myawaddy Land Border Checkpoint

– Kawthaung Land Border Checkpoint

– Tamu Land Border Checkpoint

– Rih Khaw Dar Land Border Checkpoint

If you are visiting Myanmar via cruise, please contact your tour agent for Pre-arrangement Visa on Arrival. You will not be able to use eVisa to enter Myanmar via seaport.

If the decision is not allowed to entry, you may return by the same flight.

Ordinary passport holders from the following countries do not require a visa for tourist visits of up to 14 days if entering and departing from Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyidaw International Airports. If you would like to stay in Myanmar over 14 days, or wish to enter or exit from any of the International Land Border checkpoints, then please apply for the appropriate e-Visa.
