BA BE LAKE – 3 DAYS

Summery:
Ba Be National Park is centred around a vast lake enveloped by chalky karsts and thick tropical jungles. Driver from the flatlands of the Red River Delta, travel to Ba Be National Park to see lakes and caves set amid towering limestone karsts. You will discover deep into Ba Be National Park and on to the waters of Ba Be Lake. You will experience local hospitality from an ethnic minority family, take a tranquil river trip, explore caves and see the landscape change from rice cultivation to forests to towering mountains and Swim in the lake’s tranquil waters and sleep in the traditional stilt homes of the Tay ethnic minority group.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 : Hanoi – Ba Be

07:30 am: The local guide will pick you up at your hotel and driver from Hanoi through the Red River Delta toward Ba Be, about 270 kilometres by road (around 7hours). Head north following curves of the river valley, the landscape turns mountainous. Stop at a roadside village for lunch on a restaurant in a village on the way. The route will take you up through the mountains and tea plantations to Ba Be Lake. Arriving in Ba Be National Park later in the afternoon. You will then travel to the Tay village of Coc Toc, with its beautiful stilt houses and friendly population of Tay people, who make their living by fishing in the stunning Ba Be lakes and farming. You will then enter Hua Ma Cave which features thousands of stalactites and columns. You may also wish to take the option of walking or cycling around Coc Toc village, kayaking on the lake in boats that we reserve for our tour guests, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying the views.

Boat trip in Ba Be Lake
Day 2: Ba Be Lake

Breakfast with the local family. Then drive to a jetty. You will take a boat on Ba Be Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Vietnam. Depending on the weather, take a swim in the lake’s pristine waters, or if you’re lucky you might spot monkeys in the jungles surrounding the lake. After lunch, continue by boat to the Tay village of Pac Ngoi, where you tonight you will stay in a stilted village. The boat will come to Puong Cave where you can explore the stalactites and stalagmites which are a result of the erosion of the river on the karst as well as looking out for the bat colony several thousand strong. After your, exploration of the lake, you return to local homestay for relaxing and having a cup of tea and a chat with your hosts to learn more about how their lifestyle is changing. Have dinner with local familly

Homestay in Ba Be Lake
Day 3: Ba Be - Hanoi

Having breakfast, spend time for relaxing or chating with local before or see colourful morning local market. Then head south towards Hanoi. On the way, stop over in Thai Nguyen provin for visting Tay Nguyen ethnology museum and see exhibits and artefacts from the region. Arrive in Hanoi, drop you off at your hotel.
